Wine Vintage Style 1930。This is a gorgeous large hat from the 1940s\'. The crown is not too large, and is indented at the top. The very wide brim is bent down at one side, covering a part of the face creating the beautiful \"mysterious\" look, which was the fashion of the era. Surrounding the crown there is a beautiful orange grosgrain band with beads and sequins around the front, and is tied at the back creating 2 streamers. There is a hat pin attached. There is also an elastic band attached to the inside, to help keep the hat in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: NEW YORK CREATION ( SIZE 22) + Broadway Department Store Inc. - Los Angeles The New York Dress Institute was formed in 1941. The label was created by a group of well-known designers who wanted to remain anonymous & wanted to support the New York Creation label & keep it competitive with French styles of the era. The label is white and blue, size 22/23/Adjustable. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
